I am so proud of your work and as I chunk out the proposals and stuff, trying to figure out just what my newest goals are with MTJ, I find myself listing among my experiences, Mamapalooza! and it hits me again and again just what it is that you are doing for mothers everywhere and certainly for the movement at large! It was such a groove being a part of Mamapalooza the year we did it.

I believe that mothers’ lives are multidimensional, full of bodily, psychological, relational, and social experiences. Mothers have stories to tell about the struggles, challenges, joys and opportunities and how they understand their mothering roles and identity. I am interested in how mothering has altered the course of women’s lives. My hope is that through the books, papers, public talks, and workshops that emerge from this research, I can contribute to the valuing of mothering, bolster community and government support for mothers and families, and give recognition to the significance of mothering in ways that will empower mothers and their children.

Happy Mommy = Happy World
Music makes people discover hope in their lives. Whether it's listening, playing, starting a band or rediscovering some hidden talent. Because moms give more of themselves, to more people, in more ways, on a daily basis than any other population, music can be point of connection, friendship, creativity, constructive 'me' time and even fantasy. The simple act of singing or playing can be a lifesaver, when the whole world feels oppressive or overwhelming. Finding the time and space to act creatively not only nurtures the nurturer, but reminds us of our sexy, passionate, individual selves. Sometimes for a mom, that's a lot bigger offering than a manicure or a facial. Music sustains us from the inside out and makes us all feel spiritually connected while we act out our inner rock star.

Thank you so much, Joy, on behalf of myself and my YWCA colleagues, for sponsoring, running, and entertaining in such a grand event!
It was so fun celebrating with old friends, making new friends, and really enjoying the "girl power" of the 21st century. You have such a gift, and thank you so much for sharing it with so many. Looking forward to the next one!
All best, Elaine Bianchi
